Cathy was inspired to create Prai because she realized that the beauty industry mostly targets younger women with their products and marketing campaigns, and she wanted to create a brand that speaks to women of all ages.

As a board member for the Humane Society of the United States, Cathy has always been passionate about helping animals and built Prai on this foundation. That’s why PRAI skincare products are never tested on animals and each sale helps fund valuable animal rescue efforts across the globe. In this review, we’ll discuss the brand’s best selling products, key ingredients, Prai skincare review from real customers, and more.

The Top 5 Prai Skincare Products

Prai Skincare products include cleansers, moisturizers, serums, concentrates, eye care, and neck care products that are all intended to reduce signs of aging. Below we’ll give you the details on the top 5 Prai Skincare products.

Ageless Throat & Decolletage Creme
The Prai neck cream is the brand’s best selling product. It is a rich cream that is said to help promote a firmer, smoother, young-looking neck and decolletage, with visible results in just 7 days. Most of this formula is composed of water, glycerin, shea butter, silicones, and synthetic emollients. One of the key anti-aging ingredients in this Prai neck cream is called Sepilift technology, also known as dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline, which consists of two palmitic acids attached to hydroxyproline, an amino acid. It is absorbed through the skin where it promotes collagen synthesis and plays a role in the three-dimensional folding of collagen fibers. This may result in stronger, firmer skin that is less susceptible to wrinkle formation.

24K Gold Caviar Wrinkle Repair Serum
Prai 24 K Gold Caviar Wrinkle Repair Serum is claimed to fight signs of aging and fatigue, ease inflammation, and “supercharge” luminosity. However, this serum has the potential to actually cause skin dryness and signs of aging due to its very high concentration of denatured alcohol. The majority of this formula is composed of propylene glycol, water, denatured alcohol, silicones, and glycerin. Denatured alcohol is well known to cause skin dryness, irritation, and even disruption of the skin barrier, especially when used in high concentrations. The combination of denatured alcohol with glycerin and silicones in this serum will temporarily reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This is because alcohol tightens the skin, glycerin hydrates the skin and thereby plumps skin, and silicones form a thin, invisible film that can help disguise signs of aging. However, these effects are temporary and will disappear once you wash off the product.

Platinum Firm & Lift Night Creme
This Prai night cream is said to “recharge” your skin’s moisture levels and promote tighter, firmer skin. The formula is very rich due to a high concentration of shea butter and other emollients, which should help to keep the skin soft and moisturized. Platinum is also a key ingredient in this formula, which has natural antioxidant activity. Antioxidants limit oxidative stress caused by free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin. Besides platinum, there really aren’t any anti-aging ingredients in this Prai night cream, which is why we don’t believe this product is going to provide much (if any) anti-aging benefits.

24K Gold Concentrate Retinol
Prai 24K Gold Concentrate Retinol features a blend of emollients, humectants, silicones, and encapsulated retinol. Retinol can provide numerous benefits to the skin, such as helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fade dark spots, improve uneven skin tone, restore skin firmness, and shrink the appearance of enlarged pores. The formula also contains a very, very small amount of gold (it’s almost last on the ingredient list, which is in order of descending concentrations).

24K Gold Precious Oil Drops
This Prai facial oil is said to be “the secret to your inner glow”. But we think if you notice a rosy glow from this oil, it will be due to irritation from the extremely high amount of synthetic fragrance in this oil. In fact, fragrance (parfum) is the second highest concentration ingredient in this Prai oil! As you’ll learn in the next section, fragrance is not doing your skin any good, especially when it is used in such a high concentration.

What Are The Key Prai Skincare Ingredients?

One of the Prai skincare key ingredients is Zingiber cassumunar root oil, which is found in almost every Prai skincare product. The brand calls this “prai oil”, which is strange since this oil is actually known as “plai” in Thai. Regardless, let’s take a closer look at what plai oil can (and cannot) do for your skin.

According to a systematic review published in the peer-reviewed journal Complementary Therapies in Medicine, plai oil has been used for treating bruises, sprains, and musculoskeletal pain. The main active constituents in plai oil are sabinene, gamma-terpinene, terpinen-4-ol, and DMPBD. Gamma-terpinene and terpinen-4-ol are both also found in tea tree oil, which is well known to reduce inflammation and provide antimicrobial effects.

After evaluating the research, it appears that plai oil may help to reduce inflammation and possibly help with acne when applied to the skin. However, Prai Skincare claims that this oil will “impart smoothness and suppleness to the skin”. But this is simply not true. Yes, plai oil has components that may help to reduce inflammation, but these components do not help with skin smoothness whatsoever. In order for an oil to help with skin smoothness, it would need to function as an emollient and help strengthen the skin barrier. Plai oil simply cannot do that.

Besides plai oil, Prai skincare products contain pretty standard emollients, humectants, silicones, and some antioxidant plant extracts. Instead of discussing those ingredients, however, we believe it’s important for you to know that Prai Skincare products are laden with artificial fragrance ingredients. For example, the Prai 24K Gold Concentrate Retinol contains 8 different artificial fragrance ingredients, such as amyl cinnamal, citronellol, hexyl cinnamal, butylphenyl methylpropional, and more. And we already mentioned above that the Prai 24K Gold Precious Oil Drops contain more fragrance than almost every other ingredient. Plus, the brand’s key ingredient, plai oil, contains volatile terpenoids that impart an aroma.

So why is fragrance a problem in skincare? Well, we understand that consumers typically want their products to smell pleasant. However, fragrance isn’t doing the skin any good. All fragrance ingredients (whether natural or synthetic) impart scent through a volatile reaction, and this natural reaction almost always causes a sensitizing reaction on skin. In fact, according to a 2016 publication in the scholarly journal Dermatitis, nearly 80 essential oils have caused contact allergy. Even if you don’t have a full blown reaction to the ingredient, the damage may still be occurring every day. Ultimately, this can cause mild problems for your skin in the short term and worse problems in the long term.

Where are Prai Skincare Products Sold?

Prai Skincare products are sold on the brand’s website, as well as several third party online retailers such as SkinStore, HSN, Amazon, and more.

What is The Prai Return Policy?

The Prai return policy states, “We stand behind our products. If you are not completely satisfied, please complete the form on the bottom of your invoice and return it with your products to the following address within 30 days for a full refund (excluding shipping.)”

Is Prai Cruelty Free?

Prai is cruelty free and the products are officially Leaping Bunny Certified. Leaping Bunny Certification means Prai skincare products are free of animal testing at every stage of product development.

Prai Skincare Reviews

Prai Skincare reviews on The Derm Review below are a mix of positive and negative.

For example, one review says, “I got my praise from hsn and some of the products I love but some have made my skin feel like its on fire. I have rosacia and there tightening face serum was so bad. I tryed to return it and they won’t take it back. They wouldn’t give me my money back. The toner was another bad experience my face was on fire again. I will keep what works but I will not order any of there products again. Korres may not have everything for the face but there argon oil for body, face, hair is wonderful I will try to find another brand for my face..
I give it 2- stars for the stuff that I can use.”

References:
1.
